Our recipient will be The Clackamas Bookshelf

The Clackamas Bookshelf is Primarily donation based, The Clackamas Bookshelf provides free books to low-income children in the Clackamas County community with the understanding that children having widespread access to books offers positive and long-term benefits to the entire community.

Not only do they strive to get new books into the hands of every child in the community, but specifically place focus on obtaining diverse books with representation of all children. They aim to make sure that a child can pick up a book and see themselves represented on the cover; whether that be skin color, blended families, having two moms or two dads, disabilities, religion, or removing the society gender biases in areas such as STEM, math, and fashion with positive representation in all job fields.

To date, they have given 150,000 (and counting!) free books to children in the Clackamas County. Statistically speaking, students who are not proficient readers by the end of 3rd grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school, and in Clackamas County alone, 47.8% of 3rd grade students are not reading at their grade level. The vision for The Clackamas Bookshelf aims to change that forever, and that change begins with a book.

Our Members Love Us!

Being a member of North Clackamas Chamber has brought an added value to my business and personal life. I have built trusted relationships with other businesses within the chamber to use their services or help with ideas in my own business. It has also benefitted my business by warm referrals that other members have sent me.The North Clackamas Chamber has wonderful members who are friendly and welcoming!

I joined the North Clackamas Chamber just before I opened OsteoStrong Happy Valley in June 2019. I have been amazed and thrilled by the incredible support, friendship and patronage of the chamber members. It feels kind of like having a really big family, and they are all rooting for me. I highly recommend that all businesses become an active part of the Chamber because it creates community, awareness and people really do give business and support to each other.

My family owned business has been Chamber members for over 50 years. In that time I have had the opportunity to make friends and numerous business connections. The best part is the Chamber supports many businesses in our community and helps them become successful.
